May 2024 | The Lab Grown Diamond Resource Book 22 Mailed to 24,000 Jewelers Monthly - To advertise call (888) 832-1109 | May 2024 23 With Chanel, Dior, Fabergé and Gucci offering multicolored natural diamond and natural precious stones of every color under the rainbow in cuff bracelets, rings and earrings, I got so inspired by what I was seeing, I concluded to take a stab at my own line. I never expected to be designing a multicolored cap- sule collection in 14kt and18kt gold but it’s actually happening – at least as a test. I won’t be exhibiting at JCK anytime soon and only looking at private sales and small boutiques for now, but I would greatly appreciate your feedback on some of these looks. After getting a dozen or so requests on where certain retailers could get custom made or custom adjusted multi-colored LGD fashion product, it seemed silly to direct them to other designers as a favor or to make a small broker fee, so we’ll see if this line goes anywhere. Again, your feedback – like it or hate it – would be wonderful to receive. Please let me know your thoughts. Yes, this is some shameless self-promotion, but I could easily display other LGD companies that are also working in multi-colored stones. The best place to purchase those stones? Look no farther than this very magazine. High quality vendors specializing in various colored LGDs are also offering specialty cuts and shapes and that was my resource. The Custom Key Next to the bridal category, every independent jew- elry store owner knows custom designs are the big money maker. More local jewelry shops are catering to their cus- tomer desires and offering such at much more afford- able rates while banking on large margins and fast delivery time. Fiesta , a nine color double row prong-set paring of multicolored 1.7 carat LGDs are set in 18kt white gold with an option to be set in palladium by yours truly. Details: danscott.com Returns or exchanges are problematic with non- sizable custom rings, so most retailers are being up- front that a custom sale is a final sale. Others are willing to take the custom design back if something at a higher price is purchased. A risky move since this style of ring is a showstopper but can also stop future sales if a customer dislikes the final outcome or simply changes their mind. Regardless, multicolor LGDs, especially in the cus- tom category are a hot item. It is highly recommended as you gaze through the walkways of JCK or AGTA (the final year for any LG product – diamonds or otherwise at AGTA) and don’t expect to find any LGD designs at Couture, Not yet anyhow. Next year could be a much different story as LVMH’s Fred is expanding their branded cut LGD collection and others will soon follow. As editor-in-chief, Victoria Gomelsky of JCK fea- tured in her March 27 story Mazarin Is the “Entry to Luxury Lab-Grown Line You’ve Been Waiting For, luxury design houses are moving into LGDs much quicker than experts predicted. And, some have tak- en a hard stance it will never happen to the likes of Harry Winston or Tiffany, but the way the market is trending, small tests from these mega luxe brands may be in view within the next two years under dis- guised sub branded names and probably tested in markets like Japan or Hong Kong, not the US. Switzerland Switches to LGDs With a surprise twist, Switzerland is also extremely pro LGDs with companies such as La Brilliante, Little Switzerland Engrace LGDs, and Green World Diamonds. Seven hues of pastel meets vivid colored LGDs range from 1.9cts to 2.8cts in oval, pear and round shapes with old-world style cuts and set in 14kt gold. While bands like this should attract attention, they aren’t sizeable, so customization is key.
