May is a masterful month for the entire jewelry sector globally. JCK, the largest jewelry trade show in the world, will occur at the end of this month at the Sands Convention Center through the first week of June. From May 30 to June 3, the American GemFair (AGTA) also occurs, overlapping the elegant Couture Show. Couture’s opening night preview occurs on the evening of May 29, and the elite show runs at the Wynn Resort May 30 to June 2nd. While each show has their point of difference, we’re concentrating on JCK for this issue. JCK is our proud affiliate partner in bonus distribution of Diamond Pulse and LabGrown Magazine . And, yes, JCK is the most expansive show of it’s kind offering everything from loose precious and semi-precious gemstones (natural and LG) to brand name designer collections. But, the reason to celebrate JCK is due to Reed Expos (JCK show’s owner) appreciation for the value of options. You’ll be hard pressed to find any laboratory-grown diamond designs at Couture. They view luxury as a natural gemstone and precious metal creations exclusively. If you seek loose or set LG stones at the AGTA, this will be your final year to find such. They will no longer sell any form of lab-grown stone – diamond or otherwise - in 2025. They support this significant change since they are a self-proclaimed mineral and natural gemstone exclusive show. What’s odd about AGTA’s stance is the multiple years companies such as Chatham, were proudly featured. It’s also odd that AGTA won’t ban cultured pearls, which are clearly not a mineral and are clearly man- made, in part. This brings us to an unsettling conclusion. The AGTA didn’t just ban LGDs, they banned all forms of man-made stones. And the ban is occurring during a very challenging time for natural while LG dominates the most precious segment of the diamond market – bridal engagement rings. Perhaps the timing was just a coincidence. Or, not. Regardless, placing LGD product in your store doesn’t guarantee any sales. So, Dan Scott has taken on a four-part series: Secrets to Laboratory-Grown Diamond Success to assist you in such. Inour last issue, Dan addressed theLGDprice decline andwhy that should have been expected. You may want to read it you missed the last issue. We offer monthly postal delivery at no charge for both our publications, and you may read any past issue online at LabGrownMagazine.com, or on the natural side at DiamondPulse.com reaching over 25,000 combined jewelry sector subscribers, and growing. Note the booth numbers of the advertisers in both of our publications. Allow these magazines to act as a secondary show guide of sorts with the bonus of exclusive edit in LG Magazine . Are you ready for the shows? Have you pre-booked appointments? Have you reviewed who is exhibiting? If not, our magazines can help you both. Here’s to your most successful JCK (and the two shows occurring during JCK’s timeframe.
