Additionally, we often speak with the author (s) of such studies to gain additional insight, then we share those findings with you. While global LGD analysis will be highlighted in this Publisher’s Letter, Dan Scott will be feature drill-down North American stats and graphs when Liz Chatelain of MVI Marketing will be interviewed. Beyond releasing MVeye’s consumer-focused LGD study, Dan will speak to U.S. jewelry retailers. That story is slated for the June 2022 Vegas Show issue of Lab-grown Magazine . Retailers interested in being interviewed should email: dans@luxelicensing.com From the recently updated Research & Markets: The Global Lab-grown Diamond Market Analysis 2019-2028 Report , segmented regional data is called- out from: North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa. Of these, the Asia Pacific region is expected to gain the strongest in LGD revenue to reach $24.6M by 2028. (2019 recorded a total of $14.9M in the same territory). This study states the LGD global market should gain approximately $32.7M by 2028. Links to all reports mentioned are offered at the end of this letter. The Allied Market Research’s (AMR) 2022 Lab-grown Diamonds Market Study expands their projection timeline on the same market noting, “The current ‘LGD’ global market size is valued at $19.3B and is projected to reach $49.9B by 2030.” The AMA’s report included a Covid-19 impact analysis. The section summary states, “Sales of LGDs is predicted to increase post pandemic as more importance is being given to sustainability and environment friendliness.” Note: Several posturing points from the studies noted herein referencing LGD’s ‘sustainability advantages,’ do not offer independent or third-party validation, verification or U.S. Federal Government approved claims of alleged LGD sustainability leverage points. This, while the Global Diamond Report 2020-2021, by Bain & Company and Antwerp World Diamond Centre, cite combined diamond sales worldwide (mined and man-made) in 2018 reached $80B and stayed “about level” in 2019 adding “the global diamond jewelry market dropped to $64B in 2020.” Yet, as we know, 2021 marked record highs. Independent research firm, Edahn Golan Diamond Research & Data, report the “overall U.S. jewelry sales advanced a stunning 41% from January through May 2021” to total $32B, up from $22.7B in the same period in 2019. All reports point to CVD production as the preferred LGD growth type. Most reports note significant improvements to man-made diamond manufacturing methods noting the ‘as grown’ process to be of “critical importance” with a steady increase in Type IIa larger grown stones (exceeding 4-carats) by region and company as requested by consumers. LGD industry grower data stem from: Applied Diamond Inc.; Eco Lab Diamonds; Element Six, UK Ltd. (De Beers Group); Iljin Diamond Co., Ltd.; Pure Grown Diamonds; Ltd.; Sarine Group of Companies, Sumitomo Electric Industries; Ltd., and Swarovski AG. What is missing from these important numbers is the critical North American- exclusive production, consumer and retailer perspective. This will be addressed in June’s feature, Carbon , by Dan Scott. He will shine a spotlight on the funding source of the latest LGD data, the method of data capture, and the related sales projections from the front lines: Jewelry retailers currently offering LGDs. That noted, June’s Vegas show Lab-grown Magazine issue will be a must read. Until then, be sure to visit www.LabGrownMagazine.com and @labgrowndiamondmagazine for market updates and LGD facts.
