Versace claims to have no present interest in any LGD offering, but one could see how a brand extension could be adopted leading the way to competitive actions. This type of iconic, high- demand, LGD fashion branded launch could immediately and greatly increase LGD consumer awareness and possible demand. While this genuine fragrance bottle design has a canary-yellow, faceted optical glass cap, Versace has no apparent plans for a LGD brand extension. (Right) An imaginary product sample, purely for illustration purposes – there is no such thing as the Versace diamond. Yet, if one were to be created and come to the mass market, a colored LGD could easily fit the bill. Should this ever occur with Versace, or another major design house (Gucci, Chanel, Dior) the fancy LGD market could explode. So too could a dramatic increase in natural diamond demand due to the tremendous influence of such iconic design houses.
