Without the original seed of a Natural Diamond, no LGD could ever have been grown. While it’s true that LGD seeds are now commonly purchased to factor into the HPHT or CVD growth processes, before cloned seed was manufactured, the industry required a Natural Diamond seed. Why is this point so important? As the divide between Natural and LGD seems to increase, we face continued separation as a jewelry sector. Dual diamonds have turned into dueling diamonds. This disjointed nature will only harm the industry at large in the long run. We must remind ourselves that without the initial, established mined diamond critical contribution to LGD, there truly wouldn’t be any LGDs. As Natural Diamonds move from scarce to rare, their price will most likely increase dramatically. That could create much more Natural Diamond demand, just as a rare piece of art commands a high ticket at auction, and framed look-alikes painted on canvas continue to sell. Another example could be designer quality faux furs and their presence at market along with natural furs from the same design houses. The “natural” varieties always sell for more but themarket needs both. We believe branded LGDs with specialty cuts, such as LVMH’s Fred, Prada and new comer Unsaid will command higher LGD prices as “designer diamonds” over “generic” LGDs. So too, untreated LGDs and those with grading reprints from major labs should also be sold formore than those that have post growth treatment or do not offer a grading report. It remains our hope that the industrywill shake hands not wave each other off in a much needed harmony or balance between the two genuine diamond offerings. www.greenstardiam.com saaes@greenstardiam.com 50 West, 47 th Street, Suite 1919, New York, NY 10036 +1 212 301 8999 +1 212 301 8999 ONE-STOP SHOP Gee Reaaa FFF DDD !
