We appreciative your comments online and off, and look forward to your continued thoughts as we move into 2023. We’re proud to remain the only complimentary, subscription-based, lab-grown diamond publication focused on the North American diamond business sector. As the man-made side continues to populate consumer’s minds and retail sales, you’ll find a strong array of purchasing options and exclusive editorial within these pages. As you know, we offer Diamond Pulse as well, an industry publication exclusive to natural diamond interests. This month’s feature story focuses on diamond exporting by country (mined and man-made). Noting a curious lack of lab-grown specific country-wide export data, with the natural side offering plenty of studies, we researched the current market and present this edition of Carbon, by Dan Scott. With China finally relaxing it’s former “Covid-closed” business, clearly restricting their diamond exports, India has stepped up their game. Already a leader in the diamond sector, India has always seen China as a business threat, especially in the newfound lab-grown market. This month’s Carbon column focuses on these two countries and how North America is affected by their production, delivery, and business relations. While Israel remains a serious competitor, new developments in Africa, especially from Inception Diamonds, one of South Africa’s first diamond companies to offer lab-grown jewelry, is gaining funding, exposure and worldwide sales. Look for mined and man-made business headiness coming from Africa in the months ahead. As the power shifts in countries continue, so shall our passion for diamonds, be they grown or unearthed. That passion ignites this issue and every month’s edition, always keeping your interests at heart. May 2023 bring global unity to the diamond sector from all channels to all channels.
